FEICA Regulatory Desk

FEICA launches a Stakeholder Forum

FEICA launched a Stakeholder Forum to enable long-term dialogue and collaboration. The first session, which was held on 11 June, focused on the REACH revision and its impact on end-user stakeholders and markets. The Forum brought together representatives from sectors such as textiles and apparel, automotive, aerospace and defence, flexible and carton packaging, retail and wholesale, printing, construction equipment and infrastructure, environmental packaging, tyre and rubber manufacturing, digital technology, and downstream chemical users.

Beyond immediate policy discussions, the FEICA Stakeholder Forum is aimed at building a long-term collaboration framework across the entire adhesive and sealant value chain. Participants are invited to share insights and engage in pending policy dialogues.
The key takeaways of the first session include:

  • Shared challenges call for shared solutions - End-user markets across sectors face similar impacts from REACH, from reformulation needs to innovation delays, making collaboration essential
  • A strong, unified voice matters - By aligning on common concerns, stakeholders can more effectively advocate for a simplified, innovation-friendly REACH framework
  • The Stakeholder Forum will serve as a recurring platform to address regulatory and strategic topics of shared relevance, reinforcing FEICA’s commitment to inclusive, cross-sector collaboration
The presentation slides of the session can be viewed/downloaded here.

FEICA comments following the CLP Reality Workshop

FEICA participated in the European Commission’s 'CLP Reality Check' workshop, which gathered over 700 stakeholders to explore simplification opportunities under the CLP Regulation. This document provides FEICA’s written follow-up, reiterating key concerns raised during the workshop—particularly the need to remove font size requirements and to simplify hazard label obligations in advertisements.

FEICA position on REACH Simplification

FEICA has published its position on REACH Simplification, advocating for a balanced approach that supports innovation and safety in the adhesives industry. Key recommendations include rejecting the Mixture Assessment Factor (MAF) and avoiding new blanket requirements for polymers.

FEICA publications on REACH Simplification:
FEICA’s ongoing activity on the REACH Simplification continued earlier this month with Paula Diaz, Senior Public and Regulatory Affairs Manager at FEICA and Chair of the Downstream Users of Chemicals Co-ordination Group (DUCC), attending the last CARACAL meeting focussing on CLP, REACH and Microparticles Restriction.

FEICA hosts webinar on Labelling Adhesives in Packaging Recycling

During the webinar, FEICA focused on industry practices and challenges related to labelling adhesives, testing methods for recyclability, and aligning adhesive technologies with sustainability goals. Following the webinar, FEICA published the presentation slides and webinar recording.

FEICA Report on Labelling Adhesives in Packaging Recycling

This report is published as part of the series ‘Adhesives in Packaging Recycling’, available on the FEICA website, and aims to assist stakeholders in understanding the role of labelling adhesives in recycling processes. It provides clear design recommendations and guidelines for the use of labelling adhesives to enhance recyclability. The report highlights the importance of selecting the right adhesives to support efficient recycling and offers insights into the behaviour of adhesives during various recycling processes.

FEICA updates Guidance on the Restriction of Synthetic Polymer Microparticles

FEICA published the updated version of a Guidance on the Restriction of Synthetic Polymer Microparticles (SPM). Furthermore, a method for estimating the release of SPMs into the environment has been developed, which is made available to members in the form of an Excel tool.

This Guidance provides practical, sector-specific insights to help manufacturers, suppliers and formulators navigate the scope, exemptions, labelling, and reporting obligations associated with the restriction.

To help members get acquainted with the Guidance, FEICA will host a dedicated webinar on Thursday 2 October at 10:00. More details and registration information will follow early in September.

FEICA Industry Tools
