This year's three-day event is set at the Kursaal Congress Centre, San Sebastian-Donostia, Spain from 10 to 12 September 2025. FEICA 2025 will focus on the EU market solutions and innovations to foster competitiveness of the European industry in a fast-paced changing world. With the theme Boosting a Competitive Industry: Innovation and Sustainability for a Stronger Europe, the FEICA 2025 Business Forum and breakout sessions will largely provide market intel and insights to address key issues like rapid technological progress, intensified global competitive pressures and increasing sustainability demands. FEICA exhibited at the Future of Digital Labelling in Brussels
FEICA engaged with policymakers from the European Commission, the European Parliament and EU Permanent Representations to show that the industry is improving customer experience, reducing environmental impact, boosting competitiveness and innovation, and enhancing traceability. The event is part of FEICA’S involvement in the Digital Consumer Information Alliance. Together with its member Avery Dennison, BASF, Henkel and Sika, FEICA has reiterated support for the call for harmonised EU action on digital labelling. The full call is available here.
FEICA publishes a position paper ‘Adhesives are not Plastic’
FEICA has published a position paper in the context of the PPWR regulation to clarify that adhesives do not need to comply with recycled content targets for plastics. Adhesives are sometimes misidentified as plastic due to their polymeric content. The paper is available here.
DUCC & FEICA at the EC High-Level Strategic Dialogue on the Chemical Industry Package (CIP)
Kristel Ons, FEICA Secretary General, representing the Downstream Users of Chemicals Co-ordination Group (DUCC) Heads of Associations, participated in the Commission’s High-Level Strategic Dialogue on the Chemical Industry Package, which was hosted by Executive Vice-President Stéphane Séjourné and Commissioner Jessika Roswall. During the meeting, DUCC delivered the industry’s call for a future-proof regulatory landscape to enhance regulatory predictability and EU competitiveness whilst reducing administrative burden. FEICA joins the Clean Industrial Deal launch with EU Commission President Von der Leyen
Ahead of the European Council meeting last month, Industry leaders gathered in Antwerp to discuss the future of the European industry. FEICA Secretary General, Kristel Ons, attended the meeting, joining the call to the European Commission to deliver an industrial deal that places innovation, reduction of regulatory burdens, and simple administrative processes for companies at its core. One year after the Antwerp Declaration, the time has come to start measuring progress on these key asks. More about monitoring of the deliverables is here.
FEICA joins the first meeting of the ESPR - Ecodesign Forum (EF)
FEICA became a member and attended the first Ecodesign Forum (EF) meeting on 19-20 February. The discussions focused on the Forum's rules of procedure and the first Working Plan (WP), which was adopted on 16 April 2025 and cover 2025-2030, with a review in 2028.

FEICA co-signs paper on recommendations on the Risk Management Option Analysis (RMOA) under REACH
FEICA, as partner of the Alliance for Sustainable Management of Chemical Risk (ASMoR), co-signed recommendations on the Risk Management Option Analysis (RMOA). An effective RMOA framework is essential for evaluating safe use options, analysing viable alternatives, and developing adequate risk management strategies. The paper is available here.
FEICA supports the joint industry call on microplastic reporting obligations
The letter expressed industry’s concerns to the European Commission regarding the microplastic reporting obligations. The joint industry call highlights the undue administrative burden on companies of the new requirements, and calls for a review of the reporting requirements in the interest of regulatory simplification and burden reduction. 14 April - Kristel Ons, FEICA’S Secretary General, joined the ASC Convention, Annual Conference and Expo in Jacksonville, Florida, the U.S.A., where she also presented a regulatory update concerning the status of the adhesives and sealants industry in Europe. Kristel Ons thanks Bill Allmond, ASC President, for the hospitality.
19 March 2025 - Elizabeth Staab, Chair of the FEICA SRAPPA (Sustainability & Recycling of Adhesives in Paper & Packaging Applications) Task Force, presented at the 4th online Conference on Sustainability and Recyclability of Food Packaging of Akademie Fresenius with a presentation on ‘Adhesives in the Context of PET Recycling’. More information on the key role of paper and packaging adhesives in the context of sustainability, recycling and food contact safety, can be found here.
12 March 2025 - Dimitris Soutzoukis, Senior Manager Public & Regulatory Affairs,
joined the CEN TC 193 meeting hosted by UNE (Spanish Association for Standardisation). The meeting agenda concerned the standards for the terminology of adhesive, adhesives for wood and derived timber products, adhesives for paper and board, and building adhesives. Read more about it here.

Jean-Marc Barki's 20-year commitment to FEICA's Board of Directors
Jean-Marc Barki celebrates his 20th year on the Board of Directors (BoD) of FEICA. His journey with FEICA has been marked by originality, innovation, and a relentless pursuit of excellence, making significant contributions to the voice of the industry in Europe.
In 2005, Jean-Marc became Vice-President of FEICA, acting de facto as FEICA President until his official election in 2007. During his presidency roles, Jean-Marc contributed with his professional vision and expertise, stirring the collaboration of the European producers of adhesives and sealants for a total of four years. After his presidency, Jean-Marc Barki held the role of Chair of the European Business Board for two years. Today, on top of his long-standing commitment within the organisation and as an entrepreneur, Jean-Marc Barki is President of the French National Association AFICAM.
His strategic insights and leadership have helped shape the association's goals and key advocacy files, ensuring that FEICA remains at the forefront of industry advancements.
