Guideline for Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) of food packaging adhesives in Reference to Regulation (EU) No 2023/2006

This guidance aims to help the adhesives industry, customers and other stakeholders to understand how the Regulation (EC) No 2023/2006 "on good manufacturing practice for materials and articles intended to come into contact with food” (GMP Regulation) can be implemented by the adhesive industry.

This guideline covers general and detailed rules on good manufacturing practice. Originally, the intention of this Regulation was to cover especially those materials which are not yet regulated through EU regulations, e.g. printing inks, paper and adhesives.  However, in reality the Regulation forces all actors in the food contact materials supply chain to make sure that the material or article of concern is processed, controlled and evaluated in such a way, that it is suitable for the intended purpose of food contact. The GMP Regulation can be considered as an implementation regulation to the requirements of Article 3 of the Framework Regulation (No 1935/2004).

  • FEICA Benefit Story - The next generation windows, a new source of energy reduction.pdf

    Uploaded 24 May 2016

Adhesives and sealants  are used for a wide variety of commercial and residential applications. Most sealants include silicone, acrylic, urethane, butyl and other polymeric types. Formulations have been developed to meet the performance specifications established by industry standards and the particular requirements of the end user. The use of adhesives and sealants allows for greater innovation in building design, along with increased durability of structures, the preservation of the building’s environment and a reduction in material consumption for the construction of the façade and windows.

The use of adhesives and sealants in many sectors including construction, automotive, and energy production, contribute to reducing the carbon footprint of a surprising number of everyday and advanced products and manufacturing processes  creating a "new licence to do business in the 21st century”.

A sustainable industry is a forward-looking industry, conscious of its responsibility and with a long-term perspective. This is the Adhesives and Sealants Industry - contributing to create a better future for society!
