  FEICA contribution to the REACH revision public consultation 

  As part of the ambition to reach zero pollution for a toxic-free environment established by the European Green Deal, the Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability announced the revision of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH).
  The European Commission has launched a public consultation allowing stakeholders to provide feedback on the proposed revisions. FEICA submitted its responses to the questionnaire in the public consultation.

  Enforcement of EU chemicals safety and environmental legislation will play a central role in implementing the European Green Deal agenda and the Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability (CSS). This statement emphasises that no matter how ambitious the legislation is on paper, it will never fulfil the level of protection of consumers and workers it has set out to offer, if not properly enforced.

  FEICA supports efforts to improve products sustainability, resource efficiency and circularity. Adhesives and sealants perform critical functions to transition towards a carbon neutral and circular economy in key applications such as those in renewables, electronics, construction, the automotive sector, and packaging. Adhesives and sealants enable durability, recycling, CO2 reduction, repairability, upgradability and material efficiency.
  The industry is committed to support the continuous improvement of the chemical and product policy frameworks to enable innovations and societal progress. This paper highlights some key features that are needed for more efficient, pragmatic, and impactful chemicals legislation.
