Adhesives and sealants are a success story that make many everyday products possible. Our industry fosters sustainability, encourages innovation and offers stimulating careers for people with a wide range of skills.

Economic significance

The global market for adhesives and sealants reached a value of 38 billions in 2014, with Europe (including Western Europe, Central and Eastern Europe plus Turkey) holding a share of 35%. Following a long period of steady growth, the European adhesive and sealant market experienced a downturn as a result of the global financial crisis. The market returned to pre-crisis levels in 2014 and is currently worth more than 13.4 billion euros.

The total European market for adhesives and sealants is projected to grow annually 2.5 to 3.0% in terms of volume and 3.5 to 4.0% in terms of value in 2016 and 2017. Growth will differ significantly from country to country.
