New FEICA initiative highlights the industry’s contribution to sustainability, innovation and Europe’s competitiveness
Brussels, 1 July 2026 – FEICA, the Association of the European Adhesive and Sealant Industry, today launched Smart Bonds, a new industry initiative designed to increase understanding of the essential role that adhesives and sealants play in modern society and Europe’s transition towards a more sustainable, innovative and competitive future. Although often invisible, adhesives and sealants are present in countless products and technologies. They help improve energy efficiency, enable circularity, support innovation and contribute to strategic sectors ranging from construction and transport to electronics, healthcare and clean technologies.
Giving the Industry a Stronger Voice
Smart Bonds was created to provide the adhesive and sealant industry with a shared platform and narrative. Through stories, case studies and real-world examples, the initiative illustrates how bonding technologies support sustainability objectives, strengthen European value chains and enable the products and solutions people rely on every day.
‘Adhesives and sealants are essential enablers of modern life, yet their contribution often goes unnoticed,’ said Kristel Ons, FEICA Secretary General. ‘With Smart Bonds, we want to shine a light on the technologies, innovations and people behind our industry. By telling these stories, we aim to build greater understanding of how adhesives and sealants contribute to sustainability, innovation and Europe’s industrial competitiveness.’
A Collective Effort
Smart Bonds is intended as a platform for the entire adhesive and sealant community. FEICA encourages members, partners and industry stakeholders to actively engage with the initiative by exploring, sharing and amplifying its content across their own networks and communication channels. By working together, the industry can help strengthen awareness of the important role adhesives and sealants play in supporting Europe’s sustainability ambitions, industrial resilience and long-term competitiveness.
