Digital Product Passports (DPP)
What is the DPP?
The Digital Product Passport (DPP), introduced under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) and integrated into the revised Construction Products Regulation (CPR), is a new tool to make products more transparent, traceable, and sustainable across their lifecycle. It will require companies to provide clear and accessible product information through labels, packaging or digital tools, helping consumers understand a product’s environmental performance. Depending on the product category, the DPP is expected to include information related to environmental impact, repairability and recyclability.
Why is it important?
For FEICA, the DPP is particularly relevant because products containing adhesives and sealants will be more closely documented and assessed, with manufacturers and downstream users expected to provide technical and environmental data and link relevant regulatory documents.

What are we asking for?
- Full EU‑wide harmonisation with no additional national requirements
- Digitalisation of upstream information, drawing on concepts like the Digital Material Passport
- A proportionate and efficient system, with harmonised terminology, a common data dictionary, and the inclusion of only essential data
- Protection of commercially sensitive information, with companies retaining data ownership, and secure solutions in place before sensitive data is exchanged
The DPP should support communication along the value chain while safeguarding confidentiality and ensuring technical and legal feasibility.
