Adhesives and sealants are used throughout electronic devices, including tablets, wearables, audio equipment, and automotive electronics systems. They are applied at multiple levels of assembly, from internal micro-components to external casings.
In electronic devices, adhesives are used to assemble housings, secure components and protect sensitive parts where traditional fastening methods are not suitable.
They also support the miniaturisation of electronic systems by enabling the integration of small, lightweight components in applications where space is limited and there is minimal margin for error. For example, they are used to fix microchips, sensors, and camera modules onto circuit boards where mechanical fasteners would be too large or would add stress to fragile components.
Adhesives and sealants and circularity
