MIGRESIVES

This project is a research programme examining migration from adhesives into food packaging materials in support of European Legislation and standardisation.

Most packaging materials contain adhesives. Some adhesive constituents may migrate into foodstuffs.  MIGRESIVES aims to provide industry with a tool to be compliant to Article 3 of EU Regulation 1935/2004 which means that adhesives do not endanger consumer health.  

But no specific regulation in EU or member states explain how to implement this requirement.

The adhesive industry is working towards providing a proposal for future regulation which provides a practicable solution for industry and considers the interests of consumer safety.

The project is supported by the European Commission FP 6th Framework Programme Horizontal research activities involving SMEs Collective Research.

MIGRESIVES Closing Conference 2010

The conference gave an overview on the objectives, structures and results of the MIGRESIVES project. The test and the tools (analytical methods, mathematical modelling, software) were presented. The implications of the MIGRESIVES results was highlighted and discussed in the light of legislation, the adhesives industry, the packaging industry, the food industry and surveillance laboratories.
